He's a singer, a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and captivating live performer, with an infectious enthusiasm for an art that refuses to cease - and with good reason. Marshall Dane has a powerful vibe that cannot be denied. It's a soulful alchemy of 'acoustic-pop-rock' that's equally as energizing live as it is innovative in the studio, and as exciting to the senses as it is soothing to the soul. In Marshall Dane you find a bona fide artist. Rooted below the glory of his experimental sounds, infused deep into the rich texture of his stunning voice, there lies a classic sensibility of great songwriting. It is this timeless spirit that compels his music beyond the flavor of the day and into the realm of songs that span generations. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- His story starts in small town St. Catharine's, growing up under the influence of storytellers John Denver, Kenny Rogers, and Simon & Garfunkel. At 12 he picked up a guitar and began to sing, revealing a skill that would grow into the passion of his life. Moving on to infiltrate the live music circuit in and around Toronto, Marshall impressed crowds with his self-taught musicianship and naturally disarming stage presence. He now manages to support his music with a demanding career playing acoustic shows, and has been promoted all the way down to the US Virgin Islands where his annual tour is highly anticipated. Soaking up influences and honing new instrumental skill along his self-sustaining musical journey, Marshall took his solo sound into the studio, where he was eager to lay down provocative tracks that honored the innovation of the acoustic originals. His style was a riveting fusion of contrast - silky yet sultry, powerful and subdued, soft yet strong - and it required the right finesse to produce. Mid-way through his first independent record deal, he felt his music suffocated, and so in his own diehard fashion, he left to produce the album himself. The result was "35 Dollars and Cheesecake", seven tracks recorded independently of each other, each showcasing his instrumental skill on piano and guitars, all bound by convicting vocals. Now near the completion of an intensive project with famed producer Brian Allen (Heart, Haywire, Lee Aaron, etc), Marshall has found the recorded sound he's been searching for in diversified, flavored arrangements. His new record "Weapons Of The Future", due to be released early Winter 2006, presents a powerful argument against any kind of arbitrary stereotype, playing out as an intensely stimulating ride across an artful blend of melodic chords layered over driving beats. On one track you'll be swooning in the scorching romance of 'High Again'; on another grooving to the African tribal tones of 'Mamma'; and next bouncing to the light-hearted island friendliness of 'Rosa's Child'. Marrying woe and hope, every song is a unique journey of emotional and sound experience, seamlessly moving through dynamic pop songs to romantic ballads with the constant power of a convinced, convincing songster. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He's an artist with a musical vision and the conviction to actualize it, schooled by life and self-tutored in every musical enterprise, persevering through times of "35 Dollars and Cheesecake" and moving ahead with "Weapons of the Future". Fuelled by fortitude and a feverous passion for creating, Marshall Dane is here today, sharing his music with the people, and poised to take on the industry with his powerful, prolific talent.
