MARCO D’AMICO Singer, songwriter & guitarist Italian - Canadian Marco D'Amico's modest demeanor belies a passion rivaled only by his vocal and musical talents. His stirring debut CD "Something About You" was recently released in Japan on the JVC Victor label. The first radio release “Something About Youâ€, reached # 1 on Zip Fm’s hot 100 chart, where it held on in the top 10 position for 6 weeks in 2005 and has appeared on at least a dozen other charts. The CD is the natural culmination of a performing career that started early on in life. As a nine-year old Marco slipped a couple of dollars out of his mother's wallet to purchase a tired old guitar. With half its strings broken, the instrument launched Marco's lifelong affair with the guitar. Marco notes with a smile that not only did his mother provide the $2 to buy his first instrument, she also provided the inspiration to perform: "Singing comes from my mother and volume from my father!" In his early teens, Marco turned his childhood love of performing into his first band. His newfound musicianship was influenced by such talents as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. Later on, after several years of touring as a guitarist and a songwriter in a four-member rock band, the young musician was becoming more interested in the musical stylings of Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and instrumental guitarist Jesse Cook. In 2000 Marco embarked on his solo career. Having been raised on storytelling and Italian music, writing his own songs came naturally. Once he began private voice lessons he discovered his tremendous tenor range. Marco soon developed a writing style that married his rich vocals with his incredibly passionate guitar playing. Marco D’Amico’s early solo performances began while traveling in Italy. In fact, two songs from the CD “Something About You†are in Italian. Subsequent public appearances entailed opening for both Gino Vanelli and Italy's Al Bano Carrisi. Marco has performed in Japan, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Ontario. In addition to his onstage appearances, Marco composed the theme song for "The Food Guys" radio show that aired weekly for four years on Toronto’s CFRB 1010. He recently signed an endorsement deal with U.S.-based John Pearse Strings / Breezy Ridge Instruments Ltd. Check out the artist's website: http://www.marcodamico.com Track List: 1.
