So this is what happens when a Musical Theater diva hits the sound of a New Orleans paddlewheel jazz band. Ms. Davis has an extraordinary vocal range and flair from growls to sweet light high notes filled with soul she delivers a sound unique and at the same time familiar. The guys in the band wrap around her style so seamlessly you can feel them breathe together. Standards like Birth Of The Blues ring out with a new effervescence while novelty songs like Hard Hearted Hannah bring a smile. The two original songs written specifically for this album Lullaby And Night Words are hauntingly beautiful. "These are the REFLECTIONS I see when I pour myself into this music; but I trust that, when you listen to me, you'll see a reflection that sparks even more about yourself." New Orleans Bourbon Street musicians play back-up (Albert Bouchard or Blue Oyster Cult, John Isley played with John Coltrain.)
