"Make Believe" exudes an ultra chill, lounge filled facade of total cool. It has that intangible ability to get stuck in your head. "Why do I let you hang me on the line/why do I sit and listen for your footsteps?" Byrd's vocals are emotionally detached in a heart breaking way. "Make Believe" has post breakup lyrics that exude a seamless fusion of bittersweet truth with painful emotion. This along with melodic scenery offers a refuge from that which truly hurts the most.

Musically, it's tight and instrumentally varied enough to make this artist stand out. The vocals are delivered in a tone that seems intentionally deadpan and bored, mirroring the predictability of post breakup depression. 'Why do I feel like I'm about to die/ as if I have nothing left to live for?" His nonchalant voice paired with lounge-y casual music cuts a heart inside out. Jeff Byrd's sound is consistently well produced and definitely worthy of your ears.
