Artist Biography Jefford "Sol?ce" Humes Utilizing the energy of Usher, the breathy soul of Brian McKnight, the lyricism of Stevie Wonder, and the multifaceted production style of Timbaland, Sol?ce's sophomore effort, "RedempXn (Redemption)," boldly exemplifies the title it has been given! From the onset of his second project, Sol?ce uses the title track to not only reintroduce himself as a premiere Chicago talent (singer, songwriter, producer, dancer, and actor) but display the musical intensity and added depth to which this project delves. With this introductory song, touting a hardcore beat that could easily be used for a Hip-hop anthem, Sol?ce initiates a 14-track journey which seamlessly guides the listener from club-hopping delights, such as "In the Club II: Move!" "and "Southern Style" to sentimental wonders, as exemplified by the lush "B?by GirL" and the stirringly passionate tracks "Remembrance (Memoria)" and "The Marriage Blessing." When compared to his first project, it is immediately evident that "RedempXn" finds Sol?ce at the helm of a musical growth that is hoped to affirm his rise to international notoriety. Even though the genre of the project maintains a beat-driven R&B focus, Sol?ce manages to intermingle the Dance Hall, Reggae, and Latin sound of his Caribbean heritage through tracks such as "DanceHallology," and "Slow Song." Sol?ce even makes room to affirm his social awareness with tracks such as the neo-soul cut "2-B-Beautiful" while paying homage to his electronica influences via the hypnotic "Moonlight" and the unexpected, bonus dance track "Fantaisie (Club mix)," based off of Frederic Chopin's "Fantaisie-Impromptu." In its simplicity, though, Sol?ce's sophomore effort is a project that will make you dance, ponder, dream, cry, love, and grow in the faith of a brighter tomorrow. With its unforgettable melodies, "RedempXn" truly finds Sol?ce on the next musical level of his artistic progression and places him on the path to stardom. Before "RedempXn" Born in Belize City, Belize on February 24, 1978, Sol?ce's love of music began with classical piano lessons at the age of seven. Attending Morehouse College with a Presidential Scholarship then nourished his song-writing ability, which has led to the creation of 211 compositions, and the release of two studio-recorded projects: "Sol?ce" and "RedempXn." Seizing every opportunity to entertain thereafter, Sol?ce has performed with the Morehouse College Glee Club, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, was a dancer for the Super Bowl XXXIV Half-Time Show, has been a keyboardist and lead singer with the Caribbean Castaways and Nelson Gill and the Caribbean Rhythm Band, singing at numerous venues in the Chicago land and surrounding areas, and has gone on to win the "R&B Top Performer Award" at the 2003 New York International Music Festival for his shows throughout New York City and Las Vegas, Nevada. Sol?ce's songs have also appeared on mainstream Chicago radio, the "Oasis Urban: volume 4 Street & Soul" Sampler, Raysmix Records' CD RAM Vol. 4, the independent movie Sweet Lov'n, the "Elma and Company" show, SBS Records' 2003 compilation, and has won him the Honor Award in the Great American Song Contest and the Semi-Finalist ranking within the John Lennon Song Writing Competition.
