Lithuania - Pop - Contact
Skamp, based in Vilnius, Lithuania, are yet another example of the quality pop music that is storming out of Eastern Europe. Producer Vee Diawara and rapper Vilius Alesius teamed up with the singer / lyricist Erica Jennings, from Ireland, to bring us finely crafted, thoughtful lyrics and catchy melodies.
They are a multicultural lot: Vilius grew up in the Soviet Republic, before Lithuania became independent; Erica learned very early on how to sing, dance and act in her hometown of Dublin; and Vee was raised in Mali, where he attended an international high school.

"REACH" SKAMP's 5th studio album was recorded in the UK.

Here are some extracts from their website (WWW.SKAMP.LT) at the time of recording:

SKAMP About Their Recordings in London!!!!
2003-12-15
SKAMP have announced the first results from their stay in London working with the production, management and publishing company GMW Entertainment. The group spent 2 weeks in Terminal studio (www.terminal.co.uk) and ended up with 6 new songs. “We worked with quite a few people and everyone got on really well. With Jez Coad (who has produced for Dutch pop Diva Erikah Karst, Andrew Strong – The Commitments and Redhed) we wrote and recorded 2 tracks “Won’t let u down” and “Runaway”. The “Na, na, na Song” was written with Sean Kelly who has written songs for Simple Minds, Lisa Loeb and had songs placed in movies like, “Legally Blonde”. With Jon Kingsley Hall and George Stewart we did “Calling after me” and “Talkin’ about Love” which really stand out. Jon &George have written and produced tracks for Kosheen, Simple Minds, Tina Turner and many more. They had their own band in the eighties called “Kissing The Pink”. There was a good atmosphere with everyone and it was our first real stay in London so we did a bit of sightseeing as well” explained Vee.

SKAMP On The GMW Writers Week!
2003-12-15
SKAMP also took part in the third GMW writer’s week that takes place every six months. It’s a writing session where writers and producers from different publishing companies all over the world get together to write and record songs for various projects. “That was our first experience of such writing sessions and we learned a lot as songwriters. Once GMW realized we were staying on a week they hooked us up with Bobby Huff from Nashville and we ended up writing and recording the song “Gave it all” in his hotel room. The next day we recorded my vocals in George Martin’s (Beatles manager) studio. We also wrote a very optimistic tune called “Better days” with Stuart Brown. We’ve got a lot more work to do with recording the new album and seeing the response we get but so far it’s been really great...
