All Genres > Pop > Today's Top 40 > SHAKING TREE: Matter of Choice

The band's success has not been limited to the Heartland of America.

Shaking Tree has been making a name for themselves in the national spotlight as well.

Boasting a full touring schedule of just about 200 shows per year, the group has been delighting audiences in cities throughout the country.

Shaking Tree has opened for a number of celebrated acts like Merle Saunders, Jerry Garcia Band, Sister Hazel, and The Samples, and most recently appeared at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

Shaking Tree's soulful lyrics and rhythmic, upbeat sounds are generated by lead singer/songwriter Dain Estes.

Estes' poetic ability has recently been compared to such powerful songwriters as John Mayer, Rob Thomas, and David Gray.

Carrying the melody even further is Tom Waddington on violin and mandolin.

Justin Klein on drums and bass player Derek Swensen provide the backbone and rhythm that drive the songs.

The band's musical influences are wildly diverse ranging from the Gypsy Kings and Talking Heads to Paul Simon and Stravinsky.
