In a time where singers and performers with more image than ability dominate the music charts, Sally Anthony is the antithesis of the current trend. 2003 has been a phenomenal year for Anthony as her CD "Come Clean" continues to be the "Independent Story of the Year", with Soundscan reporting over 6,500 copies sold to date. The self-penned track, "My Life" currently plays on over 50 Top 40 stations nationwide and is a Top 3 request on stations like KKCK (Marshall, MN), KQKY (Kearney, NE) and KVTI (Tacoma, WA). "My Life" also peaked at #27 on the New Music Weekly Top 40, placing Anthony, the only independent artist on the chart, ahead of acts like Jennifer Lopez, the Counting Crows, Kid Rock and Stacie Orrico. The success of her independent CD, a coveted spot on the James Taylor summer tour, a Top 40 single and an upcoming mention in "Jane" magazine, highlight a year that continues to gain momentum. Between 1999 and 2003, Anthony played over 300+ shows and released 2 EPs and 1 album independently. Realizing the power of the Internet, she launched her own site on MP3.com and to date her songs have downloaded over 150,000 times. In the spring of 2001, MP3.com profiled Anthony and her song "Nameless In-Between", the track soon becoming an underground hit and receiving airplay on over 100 radio stations nationwide. This was a remarkable accomplishment considering that "Nameless In-Between", a demo, was never released as a single and had no independent radio promotion. Two stations (95.7 FM Lewistown, PA and 102.5 FM Huntingdon, PA) received such an overwhelming response by their listeners that they named Sally Anthony "Artist of the Month". The strength of her feature on MP3.com along with a growing fan base led Clear Channel to book Anthony on an extensive summer tour, opening on the Levi's First Stage for Oasis, Barenaked Ladies, Tom Petty, James Taylor and The Black Crowes. The emotional veracity of her live show turned heads and moved merchandise, selling the 2nd highest CD total (averaging over 75 CD's per show) of any artist or band to tour on the Levi's First Stage during the summer of 2001. In addition, Anthony continued to tour clubs, colleges, and festivals including main stage openers for Shawn Mullins, 10,000 Maniacs, K's Choice and En Vogue. The summer of 2002 began with as much promise as the year before. In addition to spots on the tours of both James Taylor and Chris Isaak/ Natalie Merchant, Jim Beam selected Anthony as 1 of 10 Emerging Artists in Music nationally. She was awarded a grant to support her efforts and in recognition of her outstanding achievements as an independent artist. In late 2002, Anthony released her much-anticipated 3rd album, "Come Clean" on her own label, Gracie Productions. "Come Clean" not only is one of the top selling independent CD's of the year but is also a deeply personal offering that showcases the songwriting abilities of an artist who can compose both insightful lyrics and compelling melodies. The hit song "My Life" is a story about independence and the power of a woman in a somewhat confusing world. While her career has taken her in many directions, "Come Clean" highlights Sally Anthony's rediscovered passion and drive, a woman, who is best described by her own lyrics; "I can be nice and know what I want at the same time". The songs of "Come Clean" combine pop-inspired melodies and R&B flavored rhythm with emotionally honest lyrics, creating a powerful connection with the audience who relate to the integrity of her music. Sally Anthony's achievements create a compelling argument for the power of the artist. She has continued to garner the attention and respect of the ever-fickle music industry by proving that she has both the talent and determination to make it in this business. Sally Anthony has achieved her success the old fashion way - she earned it. Check out the artist's website: http://www.sallyanthony.com Track List: 1. Come Clean 2. Nameless In-Between 3.
