The American Heroes CD contains approximately 125 of the best voicemail messages we've received from Americans across the USA thanking the troops. Six original, inspirational pop/rock songs written and performed by the father and son band, Live Free™, are also included on the CD. The title track for the CD, "American Heroes," has been written and recorded specifically for this project. Don't Tread on Me was first written as a dedication to the troops just after American forces went into Iraq to remove Saddam Hussein. It has been entirely re-written, re-recorded, and improved for this project. For every CD purchased at the $15 retail price, $8.00 will be donated to the American Heroes Program gift giving fund. Thus, every CD you purchase will fund two gifts to soldiers, an American Heroes CD and a garment. Consider buying a few for friends, family and associates. Band Introduction Live Free™ is an up and coming new band headquartered near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The band has two members, James Mayer and his eldest son, Adam Mayer (19). Adair Mayer (15), Adam's younger brother, also contributes when the spirit moves him. "Although our band can probably best be categorized as pop/rock," explains James, "a number of our songs are better suited to other music formats. We expect quite a few of our songs to be well received by country music listeners, for example, not only because of their 'sound, but also because of the traditional American values reflected in them. Adam's solos songs are more alternative is sound and structure." Both James and Adam enjoy and are influenced by a broad variety of musical artists and styles. Thus, it is only natural that Live Free™ offers listeners everything from alternative genre compositions, to lushly orchestrated ballads, to raucous rock, and lots in between. Rich melody, blended acoustic and electric guitars, and abundant vocal harmony, flavor much of the band's work. James and Adam are both active songwriters, each capable of hammering out the basics of a new song in a sitting. The band enjoys a rather loose organizational structure. One product of a flexible approach to music making is that some Live Free™ recordings have both band members (and occasionally others) performing on them, and some have the song writer doing all of his musical work solo. Because Adam and James play a variety of instruments and both sing, who plays what, and who does the vocal work varies from song to song. It can also be the subject of spirited debate. Project Independence The Mayer family has been working for more than a decade to pull together the recording gear and know-how necessary to equip and operate their own recording studio. The band recently commissioned Live Free Studios™, its own digital recording facility. The studio is housed in a 1,000 square foot room (with a nice high ceiling) located in a sizable building owned by the family. This new studio in combination with the technical expertise gained through James' years of experience, gives the band total creative independence. They not only play all their instruments and do all of their own vocal work on their records, they also do the arranging, engineering, mixing and mastering, and act as their own producers. Adding another level of independence, James recently launched Live Free Records™ and Live Free Music Publishing™ to promote and market the band's records and its member's songs. The band also has its own clothing line, Live Free® PatriotWear™ (see www.LiveFreeOnline.com). These creative enterprises are all operated as divisions of Live Free, Inc. Currently Live Free's music businesses are being developed to showcase and promote the songwriting, recording and performing talents of the Mayers exclusively. James is also selectively producing other songwriter's and artists material. The creative production capabilities and marketing and distribution services of Live Free Records™ and Live Free Music Publishing™ may be made available to others in the future.
