LIVE YOUR TRUTH; the first CD from Lisa Marie Furth is a testament to her life. A celebration of her journey so far, the 11 original songs, all but one written by Lisa Marie herself chronicle her growth as a woman and an artist, and is a triumph of spirit - with some great dance music thrown in. The second of three daughters growing up in Apple Valley, Minnesota, Lisa Marie's flare for the theatrical showed itself in early childhood. Enrolled in dance lessons at the age of three, she would tap dance around the kitchen hollering, "Look at me! Look at me!" A dancer was born. For the next 15 years she continued her dance training - studying tap, ballet, and jazz at Monique's School of Dance in Apple Valley, and working around the Twin Cities with Dance Spectrum, Minnesota Dance Theatre, Zenon, and Larkin Dance Studio. By 15 she was competing in the competition lines, and began assistant teaching other young dancers. Her teachers felt she had a promising career. But Lisa was not interested in defining herself according to how others thought she fit into the world. She had to find her own truth. Her dancing led to the theatre and in High School, as she began to receive lead roles, she tried to mold herself into the image of the budding Broadway star. But her love of dance and flash did not fit the stereotype of the struggling actor. Though she went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Theatre Arts in Acting/Directing from Mankato State University, appearing in over 30 productions in both supporting and leading roles, she knew this wasn't her place. She had to find her own voice. Lisa continued dancing. She studied in New York, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles with the likes of Thommie Walsh, Gus Giordano, and Joe Tremaine. She started choreographing and coaching dance and led her university dance team to their first state championship. She was making a name for herself, finding some minor success in the local dance scene. One of the original members of the Reebok Performance Team, Lisa Marie appeared around the Twin Cities in a variety of venues. She became an instructor at the renowned Firm A Workout Studio. But she continued to struggle, trying to fit into the image of what others thought she should be. She had to find her own reality. In the fall of 1993, Lisa began work on her first solo album. She had always been a writer and, as she began writing her own lyrics, it seemed her time had come. The she was introduced to the recording group, Ona. later Aisha's Wild. In this group Lisa found a have, some security and safety from the risk of her own dream. The group worked together for nearly three years around the Twin Cities, and even close to a record deal. But Lisa had to live her own truth. On to Vegas, where she heard she could make a living doing what she had always loved - singing and dancing. She began touring in impersonator shows all over the world. She danced her way to Berlin and throughout Germany; to Switzerland and Australia. Las Vegas became her home base and she continued to travel nationwide as a singer, dancer, choreographer, and stage manager. Audiences worldwide were captivated by her energy and appeal. Lisa Marie was respected. She was requested. She was surviving. But she had her own truth. In 2000, Lisa Marie began pursuing her dream in earnest. She put together her own impersonator acts. She formed her own production company, Hey Sugar! Productions and started making appearances as Gloria Estefan, Barbara Streisand, and Britney Spears. She began singing with various cover bands around town including The R Factor and The Rock Steady Band. Her master class dance workshops were an instant hit, and she began producing live productions around the area including a live impersonator show at Valleyfair. Using the music and voices of others, Lisa Marie's voice was beginning to be heard. There were bumps along the road. Knee surgery seemed to put a stop to things for awhile. Heartache and financial struggles slowed her down but the building momentum of her life kept her going. It was time to LIVE HER TRUTH. Her goal with this CD was to find her voice. To hear herself declare to the world that she is following her own path. Some of songs on this CD were written back in 1993 what marks the beginning of this stretch of road. Proud of the mistakes she's made and the lessons she's learned that gave her the material for this music. As you listen, she encourages you to live your own truth. Be who you are. Be real, open, and honest. That's the only way to live. While the road she has traveled has been long and hard, it stretches before her with endless possibility. This CD is the culmination of her life, to now. There is more. As she looks to the future she reminds you to LIVE YOUR TRUTH. It's out there. And dance.
