Lisa Battle

New CD Released 2006

“InHerVoice Records” is proud to present…Lisa Battle.
Yes, it has arrived, her debut solo, self-titled CD; 4 years in the making and worth every note. 10 songs of soulful pop with a taste of rock, Lisa gives songwriting a new comeback.

The Bay Area based singer/songwriter carefully chose tunes that will be played and discussed for years to come. “The emotion in music, like in a movie, is how writing feels”,
says Lisa who grew up listening to movie scores, jazz and R&B. Her songs give us stories about hope, staying grounded and knowing that love is always nearby; emotions that are truly felt here.

Many artists have played their amazing talent and simple beauty on this record.
Norton Buffalo gives a huge heartfelt harmonica solo on “Counting The Days”.
Awesome rhythm and solo guitar work from Bay Area’s Cedricke Dennis are felt
with smooth grooves throughout the record not to mention some beautiful acoustic
sounds. Grammy winner Carl Wheeler from the Toni's plays incredibly beautiful
solo/ improv work and had the chance between tours with Frankie Beverley to be in the studio long enough to play on 3 tunes! Mike Vanderhule, Bay Area drummer, was the perfect choice to capture the slams the project needed to put that glass finish on the tunes. Ken Harrill plays the perfect guitar solo on “Rain” with that LA studio vibe feel. The big boomy, “in the pocket”
sounds of Tiran Porter was what put him on the map with the Doobie Brothers.
Now Lisa has the joy of his talent on the first tune “Ain’t Thru Lovin’ U as well as
a few others. Kevin Hedges from the Live105 band, “Ted 302” put his sweet emotion
on piano on “Little Girl”, “When Rivers Rise”, “Rain” and ”When The Memories
Fade” that started this project a few years ago. Jubu, a world-class session guitarist
came in the studio, sat down and played the acoustic solo on “Counting The Days”
in one take, truly amazing. Singer Loralee Christensen, whose talent goes from
“Nashville” sessions to Television commercials and CD’s of her own really kicks
butt on “When Rivers Rise” along with Christian singer Linda Thorp.
Nate Pitts laid down some grooves that are truly memorable, from
the beginning basic track sessions to performing with Lisa in her band.
Singer/ songwriter Simon Russell collaborated very nicely on “Don’t Wanna Lose”
and “One Of These Days”. His specialty is pop/soul and a lot of fun to hear.
Saxophonist Zac Johnson gives great solo performances on “Rivers Rise” and “Ain’t Thru Lovin’ U “ with his arrangements being a trademark.

An unintentional collaboration is what the result is on the “Lisa Battle” CD.
Piecing the project together with all the corners carefully placed is a job well done…
Co-producer / Engineer Rick Barretta adds the finesse that each song needed.
Being long-time friends and visionaries, Lisa and Rick stuck to their gut feelings
of how the finished product will be, separate from pulling resources and choosing the perfect players for the record.

Lisa Battle will be performing these ten tunes for years to come. "Writing songs is not about getting out the pad of paper and trying to say something someone may like to hear, it’s about the joy between the notes; what's not written”…..
