Hailing from Santa Cruz, Calif., L.A.B. is one man playing all instruments in a Fourtrack indie rock solo project that sounds like Built to Spill, a cup of coffee and your 70's AM radion station. Other influences include Pavement, Breeders, Sonic Youth, Television, Archers of Loaf, Guided By Voices, Unrest ... you get the picture. Lyrics are a strong point here. The style is bedroom pop but it's not la-la-la. The approach is angular and static-y and the project takes on a life of its own. It's more like an artistic vision of a rock band than a solo project.
