"One might be mistaken upon laying eyes on the porcelain-doll cute artist and musician that her name is a literal character reference. But if you have seen her designs, experienced her music or merely spoken to her for five minutes it is evident her name, like her sense of humour, drips with sarcasm."

The Band

Like many dodgy stories, it all started in the East Coast Bays...
Sick of getting in trouble, attempting to study while recovering from the night before, trying to make ends meet doing dodgy/boring jobs and generally wasting their youth and talent, three friends decided to leave behind everything they knew in an attempt to create something bigger and better than their present reality.

Lilli White was born as a recorded project in 2004 when Lilli (exotic dancer by day/rock star by night), Geoff Talbot (Producer by day/Scorpio sex god by night) and Angus Jowitt (Um, well, let's just call Angus a "business man", guitarist and Lilli's Executive Muse) relocated to Australia for the year. Lilli wrote material in Brisbane before she and Angus headed down the coast to Byron Bay where they meet up with Geoff who was studying at SAE and doing an internship at world renowned 301 Studios Byron Bay.

The SAE sessions were planned demos to bring back to Auckland but when the band Geoff was to be engineering at 301 failed to get working visa's at the last minute Lilli White were given two weeks of studio time in this amazing facility to properly and legitimately record the demos they had been working on. The trio worked fast and recorded their debut EP 'Duplexus Corr' (planned for release in July 06) and the bulk of their debut album 'Unknown Quiddity' (release date to be announced) before heading back to Auckland in mid 2005 to record the drum parts with a session player, start mixing, putting together the band and set up their label Perfect Recordings

In January 2006 after mixing was completed and the label set up the trio went about recruiting other noise/troublemakers to join in the debauchery. Geoff was ready to cue the samples, Angus was ready to play till his fingers bled (literally!) and Lilli was ready to cause a stir!

Previous partner in crime from the Bays, Sam Ralston, was first to sign up to be part of what has been an eagerly awaited 'event' in their home town. The four started practicing and searching for other players.

In February, Lilli was given Nick Gregory's number by two different people and considering it an omen she hired him on their first meeting after two too many drinks at Verona as the groups bottom end- without even hearing him play! Thankfully her instinct paid off. The Christchurch native, along with Geoff, balanced out the hedonistic group- preferring to keep his craziness musical- Well, most of the time anyway!

But the sound wasn't complete... There were too many guitar parts on the recordings and despite five guitars there was only one guitarist!
Near despair after several failures and musical differences with inflexible individuals, Sam piped up from behind his drum kit in a rare momment of clarity and suggested "Bryan plays guitar..?" Bryan was another ECB cat from the old days. From the moment he walked into the practice space in March the monster came alive!

In June 06 Lilli White will be presenting Auckland city with their unique blend of melancholic rock, sexy onstage antics, massive egos and attitude. Oh, and did we mention stunning good looks ;-) before releasing their debut EP 'Duplexus Corr' in July. We invite you to come join in the spectacle!

Lilli White- The lady herself.

Born to teenage parents from Otara then kidnapped by her crazy religious grandmother in an attempt to stop her impending adoption into a professional middle class family from happening, Lilli attracted drama and the surreal to herself from day one.

Raised on the North Shores of both Auckland and Sydney young Lilli had every advantage economically early on but as a result of her birthmother's suspected drug and alcohol consumption while pregnant Lilli has had many obstacles to overcome- She has suffered from depression since she was seven, has ADD and although not technically dyslexic she doesn't think in 'linear thought patterns'.

Despite all this she excelled at school, got top marks in Auckland for all her Trinity College of London Speech and Drama examinations and graduated high school a year early after being accepted to university. The former speech and drama teacher studied Film at university and quit teaching to become an exotic dancer because "Men are easier to control than children!"

Lilli is both an audio and visual artist. Visually Lilli mostly works as a designer and photographer. Her designs currently adorn the band's
T- Shirts and the line will be ever expanding. Her sense of the aesthetic reveals a cheeky sense of humour and dark sexuality. Lilli has said
"I am always turned on when I see guys wearing my designs. Especially the ones with enough balls to wear the ones intended for females. It's quite ironic really that my measure of a guys confidence in himself and his sexuality often comes down to his willingness to embrace cross dressing. Or maybe it's just a little twisted. Either way it amuses me and arouses my interest." So c'mon guys, wear one to the show- who knows what could happen??!!

Lilli's photography further exposes the inner darkness which defies the exterior of this harmless looking female. She became notorious a few years back for photographing one of her goth-boy subjects in Symonds Street graveyard with "Merry Chrismas" carved into his chest in blood. Lilli claims that she deliberately misspelt Christmas as a slight on Christ- but those who know her well know her "non-linear thought patterns" often get in the way of her logic when she is being creative. Like the time she tried to write ANTI BUSH in permanent marker on her American flag stripper stillettos 30 seconds before she was due on stage and ended up with shoes that read "ANTI BUH..." and a very folorn face!

Musically, the classically trained singer and pianist composes her unique blues and jazz-fused alternative rock with her melancholic introspective lyrics in the company of her favourite person - herself. Lilli is a studio loner too, often working with only Geoff. Master Talbot takes care of the technical aspects of Lilli's sound (which reportedly often involves translating abstract sound ideas into reality "I want the reverb on the piano to sound like fairies dodging raindrops in a rainforest after a storm." ...???) while she plays many of the instrumental parts and acts as creative producer.

But despite loner tendencies- who says she can't play well with others..?
