BAND BIO-CHEMISTRY:

FASCINOMA
Noun. A cancer that unexpectedly disappears or heals without explanation. A "fascinating" recovery.

FASCINOMA
Noun. A Los Angeles indie-rock trio.

Alanna (lead vocals/guitar) was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, but moved to Los Angeles at the beginning of the millennium with plans to tan, swim, and relax on the West Coast. Instead, she made her musical debut as Fascinoma at the highly competitive NXNE music festival in Toronto, Canada where she was featured as a critic's pick and played to a packed house before disappearing into the bowels of an MFA Creative Writing program at an art school in Southern California (Calarts) where she would remain in darkness for three years.

Alice (drums/kazoo/backup vocals), Alanna's sister, studied classical piano in college, but moved abroad after receiving a grant to film a short documentary on feminism in Taiwan. For two years she lived on the waves of the Pacific, teaching English and studying drums at one of Taipei's notorious Schools of Rock. In due time she was coerced into moving to "the Babylon of the West"-and soon found herself keeping the good beat for Alanna in their musical collaboration called LINISTER. The folk-punk duo was doing very well touring colleges in the Midwest, playing to small but adoring crowds in great LA venues, when to their delight and surprise they noticed. . .

Mike (bass/guitar) floating down the LA river in a small hand-basket. After stints of education in Boston and San Francisco, Mike returned to his hometown to finish his undergraduate degree in guitar jazz studies at Calarts. The founder of This Is My Method (www.thisismymethod.com) an online artist collective, Mike was introduced to the duo and immediately impressed the sisters with his stunning good looks, exotic wit, and dazzling punctuality. He was quickly ushered into their musical fray.

The trio came together for their first public performance on September 29, 2004 on a magical night at The Derby in Los Feliz, CA. Currently in the studio preparing their first release, Frogstar and the Unconquerable Mythic, FASCINOMA will begin touring the college and club circuit at the beginning of 2005.

"Beautiful, varied music and funny, comfortable banter. The right blend of transcendence and whimsy. Think a little Sundays, a little Ani DiFranco, a little of your favorite poet, a little of your favorite flavor of ice cream, a little of your favorite joke." --Cheryl Klein, fan, Los Angeles, CA
