On "Soul Brother Twice Removed" David Scully portrays half a dozen eclectic characters ranging from East Indian psychologists to Boy Groups; as well as James Brown, Alec Guinness, Barry White, Prince, and David Bowie. Having done movies / television / radio and theater professionally for more than 15 years, Mr. Scully can drop the following names of people that he's worked with: Bill Irwin, Larry Fishburne, Curtis Hanson (director of LA Confidential), and James Earl Jones, among others. He's performed is unusual brand of standup in numerous venues including The Comedy Underground, The New City Late Nite Club, The Empty Space Theater and ACT Theater; as well as writing, producing and performing in sketch comedy shows on both NBC and CBS. He's the recent recipient of the coveted, "Telly Award" for co-writing dialogue for the popular, "Guerilla Gardner", television series. He's also won the "All Star Software Award," Children's Software Revue, 2000, "4.5 out of 5 Apples," from the iMac Buyer's Guide, and "Best Picks for the Holidays Award," from Choosing Children's Software, 1999. All of these awards were given for his online writing skills. Other awards include the Langston Hughes Cultural Arts Award (Other recipients: August Wilson and Jacob Lawrence) Seattle Washington, numerous awards from the Seattle Arts Commission Award for Playwriting, an Artist Trust Playwriting Fellowship Program and winning the Theodore Ward Playwriting Contest, in Chicago Illinois. Mr. Scully was recently commissioned by the Milwaukee Repertory Theater to write the book for the world premiere of Jazz Royalty, which will open in the winter of 2004.
