It's a long way to the top, if you want to rock'n'roll. Indeed. But for UK band The Scooters - it's where they're heading. Touted as one of the finest bands in Wales, the band have a busy time ahead. With the launch of their debut album - Peepshow, and their brand new video, The Scooters feel that finally- this is their time. Formed four years ago in the Welsh capital, The Scooters have built a reputation as a must see live act. Brimming with boundless energy, melodies to weep for and a dedication to their craft that leaves many gasping, their live act leaves you humming their songs as if they were your favorites. See them once, and you'll wonder how you survived without them. The debut album has raised some eye-brows, breaking onto the CMJ top 200 4 weeks after it's release and charting on 70 college stations across the States. It's a mark of the bands dedication to their own cause. And its infectious stuff, In a world, where angst and misery seem to dominate - its refreshing to find a band with a lighter touch and an ear for tune. The eight self-penned songs (and a couple of hidden surprises) are the sound of a band confident in what they're doing, and aiming high. There's a hint of Californian sunshine mixed with some Cardiff rain, but this is unmistakably The Scooters. The songs fill any stage - colorful observations, and an ease of musicianship - all part of The Scooters experience. Another piece of the musical jigsaw is the completion of the band's first video - for the song Bones 2 Ashes. And it's another Cardiff based venture. Directed by Ed Talfon - the BBC's up and coming hero, it features a mix of live action and subtle animation. The band has been invited to perform in the States a number of times, and to rave reviews, so much so that the BBC recently aired a documentary about one such visit that has led to regular appearances throughout the BBC TV and radio schedule. This past summer/fall, 2001, The Scooters returned to the States twice, playing west coast dates in August, including the International Pop Overthrow in Los Angeles and Bay Pop in San Francisco. In October, the Scooters were in New York City for the first time, after being invited to play at the CMJ Music Marathon. Throughout November, the band toured Europe, playing over 20 shows throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. Starting in March of 2002, The Scooters will return to the US, touring cross country, including an appearance at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. But even amongst the glitz and glamour of all the travel, these guy's hearts will always be at The Royal Oak pub in Cardiff. It's their spiritual home and rehearsal room , and as appointed 'house band' it's a chance to catch them in action up close and personal. To see them perform here, is to truly understand what The Scooters are about. There's a banter, a knowing wave, a nod and even a four-letter greeting for the oldest of friends. Its where the band has grown up - and no matter how far they fly - The Oak is home. Check out the artist's website: http://www.aeronautrecords.com/ Track List: 1. Peepshow 2. Dwti 3. RPM Adrenalin 4.
