In a time where the soundtrack of modern pop culture is polarized between aggression and saccharine, the Teenbeaters offer a more honest and encompassing view of the human experience. Rich musical textures mirrored by shifting lyrical moods allow the listener to become immersed in the stories relayed from the world of the Teenbeaters. A multi-dimensional place where hostility, beauty, hysteria, absurdity, hilarity, and tragedy combine to capture the moment, or the feeling of an archetypal situation. Produced by John Agnello (Jawbox, Dinosaur Jr, Buffalo Tom, etc.) 'I covered my head with my arms and lashed out with my feet, but the awful hammering continued. There was not much pain, but even through the numbness I knew they were hurting me and I was suddenly sure I was going to die.' --- Hunter Thompson, 'The Rum Diary' The night-time sky is lit almost white with vigintillion freezing rain-drops as I watch from my new front porch, fighting sleep for fear of drifting in and out of these horrifying dreams involving myself and people I'd forgotten, and in many ways, am sorry I had ever known. And as I listen to these crazy recordings in my headphones again and again, drunk, a little high, a slight physical incapacitation making itself understood from time to time, it dawns on me that what I'm experiencing is the windswept residue off the rolling snowball-like gathering of a collective soul screaming it's alternative-less rebellion in around it, hoping, almost entirely beyond hope, to reach (and pierce) the ear of just one more fucking soul - one more soul to crash with it and die because it truly sucks to die alone. And, man, I tell you, Teenbeaters is a sad, sad thing. And I mean bad-ass sad, like Johnny Cash's commiserating/warning/pleading version of Nick Cave's, 'The Mercy Seat'. Unabridged, unembarrassed, unafraid, hard-but-broken-but-still-hard and going to die today. God is real and he loves you although you've refused his love 'til now, and Teenbeaters seem to be sucking their lower-lip on their hardened, slut-loving, crime-smattered way to the electric-chair, asking, Jesus, is it ever too late for real love? Like a bratty child who knows nothing but its own desires, DAVE MILONE howls, screeches, begs and reprimands the world in half with his songs of betrayal, lust and pure selfish hatred. Like the melodies he used to bang out on his guitar for a previous band, Ours, his overall vibe is one of complete and utter refusal. Couple that with the reform-school-informed outlook and twisted, I'm-a-victim take on life of fellow songwriter and bass-player, ZAMBIA GREENE, and you've got a sadly beautiful, hideous, rock-monster that eats and eats and only spits out enough of its vicious bile to singe the flesh off your simple ass without burning you to a lifeless crisp, kind of a love-filled, undeniably earned punishment for not paying proper attention to your duties as a fellow human being. After hooking up in the Jersey-based band, Ours, MILONE and GREENE went on to form Teenbeaters with kindred misfits, JIMMY ASCUITTO (guitars, vocals, keyboards, other) and KEVIN MCADAMS (drums, vocals, keyboards, other) from the electronica outfit, Sugarglider. Since then it's been an all-for-one, meat-is-meat struggle for light for these four broken criminals (whose outlaw properties will NOT be lost on die-hard fans of Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Old Dirty Bastard, Robert Downey Junior, Tupak Shakur, or any other modern-day law-breaker seemingly engaged in a constant swim for the shore of their art). Currently supporting their latest release, the John Agnello (Breeders, Dinosaur Jr., etc.) produced, 'My World, My Sky', with a Northeastern tour, this band is living-to-detonate proof that old-school, suck-my-dick type rock and roll still thrives with a hellish, sex-and-drug hungry fervor, that the fucking truth will always hurt, and that heaven is lonely for souls. So I'm dodging my dreams, the sky is falling, and the Teenbeaters are fighting your fight. Fuck you, America. ---Will Alvarez Check out the artist's website: http://www.myspace.com/teenbeaters Track List: 1. ConcreteJungleLove 2. God and Me 3. Lotti Di 4. No One Knows 5. Up Tonight 6.
