"A pure pop masterpiece," says Martin Brown of Mean Street magazine. If you haven't yet heard the sensuous melodies of the band Nîce, your ears are in for a treat. Born in an Orange County garage in October of 2000, Nîce (pronounced neese) is now proudly unveiling its long-awaited debut album, My Planet, released on Tank Farm Records.

Thousands of fans up and down Southern California have experienced the gratification of the senses Nîce brings to a live show. These fans come to hear the dreamy Britpop songs reminiscent of Oasis and Travis, with influences thrown in from the synth sounds of Duran Duran and the cartoony-punk stylings of Weezer.

Frontman John Anderson, a man seemingly destined from birth to occupy center stage, has spent the last few years perfecting his skills and finding his sound. As saxophonist for an up-and-coming ska band, Anderson spent a year touring nationally in 1998 where he learned the ways of the road and developed his now much-loved stage presence. However, when the tour ended, so did the band. Beleaguered but not beaten, Anderson set out to start a new band with a new sound and a new heart.

The prime candidate for guitarist was obvious - John's younger brother Ricky. Ricky Anderson had been a skilled guitarist for years and shared his older brother's love of music and artistic ability. The two began brainstorming, writing songs, and considering prospective band members.

The cosmic nature of the band was then realized when, during an audition for drummer, brother Mike Anderson grabbed the sticks and - much to the surprise of John and Ricky - outplayed the person auditioning. A smile and a knowing glance later, their drummer was determined and Nîce was officially born.

Soon after, bassist Dale Dimapindan and keyboardist John "JP" Peil, both good friends of the Anderson trio, hopped on board to add background to the band's hearty, soulful sound.

Attending a Nîce show leaves one with the feeling of being whisked away to a sunny vacation town where good friends, good vibes, and great times are abundant. In fact, the name Nîce derives from the small, lakeshore town in Northern California where the Anderson brothers periodically vacationed as youths, and from the romantic resort town in southern France from which Mike Anderson has recently returned.

Although the foundation of the Nîce sound is on a Europop vibe, the guys have engineered their craft into a distinctive style of their own. Nîce is definitely the future of pop, their sound is the soundtrack of tomorrow. These guys are on a mission to stardom and world renown.

Nîce...coming soon to a radio wave near you.
