Name: Galen Scott Marten Born: Sandusky Ohio May 12, 1973 Education: Graduated from Bellevue High School Class of 1992 Studied guitar at the Austin School of Music for one year. Studied Acting at the Bright Lights Theater School of Acting for two years 1996-97 I have always been a person of the arts. I was lucky to be young and know exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to be involved in acting and music. I was a Thespian and participated in many plays in high school as well as band and choir. During my Junior and Senior years I wrote a film review column for the school paper. After graduation I continued to write film reviews for the town paper "The Bellevue Gazette" . I did this for a year while trying to decide if I should go to school or move to another city and pursue a career in acting. A close friend of mine started to play the guitar, and after seeing him play I went out and bought one for myself. I was twenty years old and it was the beginning of my music career. I had not even had the guitar a day and after learning only two chords I was writing a song. My friend and I started a cover band, and we called our selves "Ida Maybe" After a year of playing I felt I was ready. I packed up and moved to Austin TX, the live music capital of the world. I spent five years in Austin. I was a member of a band named "Redshift". We did well enough. We played a lot of shows and made some fans. But it was not meant to be. I left the band and spent a year in New Orleans. New Orleans was not what I had hoped and I returned to Austin. After a year of not finding the right band I decided to return home to Bellevue to begin writing my album. My returning to Bellevue was for the sole purpose of recording the album that I sent to you. I have never been more proud of anything I have done in my life. My first solo Album "Pictures on the Wall" came out Jan. 30th.
