New Album REGRETS OF A COMPANY MAN available now! http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/edmundscrown2 Edmund's Crown is a Nashville rock trio featuring guitarist/singer Greg Pope, drummer David Sprouse, and bassist John Putnam. Their music has been featured on radio and network television shows including NBC's Providence, WB's Dawson's Creek, MTV's WFF Tough Enough, and most recently on UPN's America's Next Top Model hosted by Tyra Banks. The band's sound combines three-minute song forms loaded with surprising twists and billboard-sized choruses that rise from beds of distortion and a seat-kicking rhythm section. Rooted in character-driven rock influences like The Who, The Police, and Big Star the originality of Edmund's Crown shines through via vulnerably ambitious lyrics and a healthy disregard for pop predictability. The group was formed in 1999 by southeastern rock vets Pope and Sprouse. Pope came to Nashville in 1997 with the modern rock act Eager, which despite significant radio success and album sales of 30,000, split up after the demise of its record label. Undeterred, Pope began rehearsing with musical acquaintance Sprouse. Along with bassist Jeremy Richards they released a 7-song debut, EDMUND'S CROWN: EP, in February 2000, and spent the next year performing regionally to support it. The next year, the group released their first full-length effort, EDMUND'S CROWN, which was hailed by critics and fans alike. In January 2003 the group released EDMUND'S CROWN: COLLECTED, which features select tracks and unreleased recordings from their first two projects as well as two new songs. Bassist John Putnam, an friend of the band joined up after Richards returned to his home state of Iowa. With a brand new project nearing completion, Greg, John, and David are optimistic about the future. "It's hard to stand out in a town like Nashville," says Pope, "but we're still together making music that we like-which could be our greatest accomplishment."
