Do you know how much I love you? Do you know how much I care? I let my Son die so you could have life... Do you know how much I love you? Do you ever stop and think about how much God loves you? In a society where "love" seems to be a cliché term used for just about anything, God's love may not seem much different than that of anyone else. But oh, it is far deeper, higher, and wider than one could ever imagine. Rick sees a need for the relevance of God's love and the truth of Scripture to penetrate and challenge our culture, and this is one of the driving themes of his new album, "Always There." His songs offer grace, love, and at the same time present thought and challenge. Rick's talent was discovered at age 3 when his mother noticed him mimicking the movements of Schroeder, the right-brained artsy character from the "Peanuts" series. Mrs. Barnes wasted no time in purchasing a toy piano for Rick so he would have something to "bang" on, and by age 5, Rick received his first piano lesson. Little did he know that 17 years later he would find himself building a career around music. Along the way, Rick received a degree in piano performance from the University of Montevallo and has had extensive choral and private voice training. He was also a member of the Birmingham-based Christian band "Aboutface", and has performed and led worship extensively throughout the southeast since 1999. Rick's music has been compared to that of Bruce Hornsby, Elton John, Keith Green and Mark Schultz. Put all 4 together and it creates the unique sound heard in Always There. Rick is currently performing across the Southeast and plans to continue building followers of Christ through his music. "Rick Barnes' talent on the piano and his honest lyrics shine forth in his new album, 'Always There.' Everyone should have a listen to this collection of challenging and encouraging songs." -Adam Wright, singer/songwriter "Rick Barnes is an extremely talented artist. His effortless playing and clever songwriting draw you in from the first note." -Jennifer McConnell, Founder, Indie Community.com "Rick is a jem in the musical world.
