"These guys are the anti-pop band we've all been looking for!" - NJ Aquarian BONBOMB. Their music is raw, rich, edgy, danceable, sarcastic, sympathetic, lyrical, cynical and even political. With a three-piece line-up featuring Wilson (lead vocals/guitar), Raul Mederos (backing vocals/bass) and M.H. "Hank" Yaghooti (drums), on paper they seem conventional enough. Just listen to their music, however, and it becomes clear that first impressions can be deceiving! With a range of influences that includes Kraftwerk, The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Bad Brains, The Clash, U2, DeadKennedys, New Order, Joy Division, The Buzzcocks and Sonic Youth, BONBOMB is nothing short of inspired. BONBOMB debuted publicly on October 29, 2002 as the opening act for Gene Loves Jezebel at Don Hill's in New York City, but they are by no means musical newcomers. They have been in other bands together, including the ambient and industrial quartet DED LIFE DV8, but the perfect formula was discovered when BONBOMB was forged. With a common goal to flourish as an alternative to the homogenized monotony of mainstream music, Wilson, Raul and Hank have found a way to combine their individual sensibilities into one seamless, honest endeavor. BONBOMB's songs run the gamut in terms of style and content. Be the subject religion, (Read the Bible, You Will Die), war and politics (No More Wars and For the Cause), hazing (High School), ethnic and discriminatory issues (A Veces Me Siento A Pensar and Heartbreaker), mainstream radio (Radioclone), conservatism/culture reformation (Spare Some Change), relationships (What is Love?, Just Another Break-up Song and Dear Today), or disillusionment with the details of day to day life (Time To Reset, I'd Rather Walk and Save the Drama for Your Momma) BONBOMB has an opinion. Expressed musically, their fertile thoughts are accompanied by sounds that range from melancholic and moody to upbeat and danceable to frenetic. Sometimes powerful, sometimes soulful, in every case the resulting song is a superlative blending of subject and sound. Following their first live performance, BONBOMB has appeared at venues throughout New York, New Jersey and PA. In 2004, the band released their first and second full-length recordings "The Sedated Nations" and "Is Who We Are Right Now, We Are...". Since then their music has received airplay on WFMU 91.1 FM, East Village Radio NYC, WSOU's Street Patrol 89.5, WSRU 88.7 (Rutgers University) and Blowupradio. Recently, BONBOMB won "The Break" Competition at the legendary Stone Pony and were selected to perform at the 2005 Bamboozle Festival in Asbury Park, NJ with major acts such as Thrice, My Chemical Romance and Bouncing Souls.
