I did it right this time. I got a killer album with great songs, wonderful arrangements, amazing players, the best producer and hey, it's all me. I'd love this album even if I hadn't done it.

I was going to get the professionally done bio and all my usual glowing quotes together for this and be very organized. But you know what, I think I just want to talk to you and tell you what's what.

At this date, June 12, 2001 this album has been out exactly one month to the day. I've had some great responses and the other people have no taste. I've decided in my artistic life that I will always tell the truth...through my eyes of course...and that when you play this CD you will be going on a wonderful ride which you'll want to take over and over again. Like the title track says,"Don't know what I'm running from, don't know what I'm running to, all I know is running feels like the right thing to do."

So, what do we all really want to do in our lives? Succeed, make lots of money...Naw...we just want to sit on the couch, eat greasy food, watch a shallow video and concentrate on doing absolutely nothing like track #2, "Doing Nothing."

Fantasy VS.Reality. My choice? Fantasy always. You first see somebody and you have this giant crush on them and you haven't even met them. So you weave all these wonderful fantasies around them and....hey...sometimes that's the best
part of the relationship right? Like the song says, "What The Hell It's My Dream."

Dysfunctional? Hey we've got dysfunctional. Check out "Quick and Dirty". You see that it's destructive but you love the crazy one just the same. Do you stay or do you leave? You listen, you decide.

Pure, wistful love, like the kind you read about. It could happen to you... "Once Upon A Time".

I have a very annoying habit of always picking the wrong guy. If you can relate then maybe you've got a "Stack Of Disasters" too!

But let's face it. The bottom line is that you can engage anyone in a great conversation and have them really think you're cool if you pick the right topic. Is it sports? (No guys) Is it the weather?(An obviously bad but most often selected subject) No, the way to anyone's heart is to make the conversation center totally around them. "Keep Talking 'Bout Me" At least it always works for me.

So, what else do you need to know? Ah ha! Where I was born right? I was born in Thermal, California which is near Palm Springs. It's still a hole in the wall town and I used to escape by sneaking out late at night with the family station wagon and drive down these old deserted roads out in the middle of nowhere and turn off my headlights driving with just the moonlight until I got scared. But you never forget driving out there all alone with the stars and the moon and the coyotes in the "Desert Air".

These days I split my time between L.A. and Arlington, Washington which is an hour north of Seattle. I've done a lot of touring from San Diego to Seattle and intend on doing more touring in the near future.

This CD came about in part due to the contacts I made through CD Baby. The person I'd been working with for the past few years was not going to pan out for my project and I had no idea who to use. I threw it out to the universe via CD Baby's Music Thoughts Digest and got one email back from Alan Horvath in New York telling me to check out his long time friend Mark Paladino who had his own analog studio in L.A.

The sound Mark gets out of The Edge Studio is truly alive, present and consistently superior. I decided to work with him and he decided to work with me. (He decided first, I was a little difficult)

Then we brought in my long time friend and legendary drummer, Chet McCracken. The week of the session the guitar player Mark had selected flaked on us and rather than reschedule the session we asked Chet for his suggestions. He said to use Chris Pinnick. When I asked him if we should think of anyone else he just said, "No". He was right. Chris is one of the best and I'm so glad he played on my record. They both brought in Ric Fierabracci who's work on the bass is amazing. He's also got to be one of the best people on fretless bass that I've ever heard.

For background vocals, Linda Jackson came in and ripped it up where it needed ripping and sweetened it up where it needed sweetening. She's great.

But the best thing was Mark Paladino who produced, coerced, mixed, and put himself into this project heart and soul. I can't tell you what a joy it was to work with all of these great people and have fun spending all that money.
Have you bought a CD yet?

As for the CD photos and design we have Robert John to thank for great pictures. Anybody who gets a good profile of me is truly amazing. Check out the back of the CD. dehx did my makeup and was a joy to work with. David Braucher did the CD art work and lent his talents to all of my whims. And whims there were.....

I think you've got a pretty good idea about me by now. If you need to know more then email me from here or check out www.shakeh.com. Check out the sound clips and when you do buy a CD then let me know what you think. Get on my mailing list if you want through the website.

The L.A. Times says" Shakeh is a Rock 'N Roll Gal" That's cool. But I want to know what you think so check it out!
