All Genres > Pop > Folky Pop > RECLINERLAND: ep

This is the third release by Reclinerland, and first for Lelp. 8 tracks of pop from this charming man (Michael Johnson) that got a little bit of help from his friends (including Chris Streng from the Stratford 4). This release represents both sides of Reclinerland... one acoustic guitar + voice, and also the full band pop sound.

Reclinerland is Michael Johnson and a revolving cast of musicians. Currently the band is Anthony Georgis on drums and Pat Gamble on bass.

Originally from San Francisco Bay Area, Michael Johnson (we call him Mike - but its not the Mike Johnson from Dinosaur Jr.), along with Anthony Georgis, co-founded the American Girls in 1993, and moved to Portland, OR. After moderate success with the American Girls, including two releases on Manifesto Records, Mike parted ways and started to perform under Reclinerland.

In 1999, Mike moved to NYC to immerse himself in a different music scene. After releasing two records on Expanding Brooklyn (1998) and Hush Records (2001), Mike decided to move back to Portland, OR and call it home for a while.

The Reclinerland's songs range from singer-songwriter (ala Nick Drake, Hayden, Mark Eitzel, and Elliott Smith) to a full pop band (ala Minders, Wedding Present, Beach Boys, and the Sea and Cake).

With all of this, Mike is also currently also a member of the Blanket Music (Hush Records).
