Alan Griffith was born in the coalmining town of Madison, West Virginia in 1958. "Although I've never
worked a day in the mines, mining life was all around me. Growing up with five older siblings, there was
always plenty of music around the house."

At the age of 18, Alan started his first rock band. He moved to Charleston, West Virginia in 1989 and has
been a veteran of the Charleston music scene for many years playing coffee houses and pubs.
"This may sound like a cliche, but I write about my own personal experiences. I have no trouble keeping
it honest because it's simply the only way I know how."
Rooted deeply in traditional and contemporary folk with a splash of rock and roll & influenced heavily
by Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt and James McMurtry - just to name a few.
