"The theme is illusion vs. reality, and it should be obvious after listening to the album to figure out which one i prefer. Basically the songs are all about pretending and preserving an illusion of something or someone in your mind the way you want to see it/them in order to stay happy, regardless of how miserable the cold hard reality is. Sometimes people will ask me "why is it called Springtime in Paris? Have you ever even been to Paris?". As soon as they ask that i know they just don't get it." -Brandon Adamson

Liner Notes:

1.Outer Space: After being broken up with, the first thought is always that you're going to be something and do something so amazing with your life that it will make the person realize what they missed out on and be forced to live with it. What better way to do it than to become a legendary astronaught and travel in space? The underlying and sad theme of the song is that it will probably never happen, eventually you'll get over it. Life goes on, and you just go through the same thing all over again with someone new. Song took 8 whole years to finish.

2.Lost Andjealous: Lost Andjealous is the best song musically in my opinion, and has the most meaning for me. I actually came up with the term "Lost And Jealous" as far back as when i was little. It just stood out naturally to me as a kid as words that sounded the same as los angeles so i would always say it. I got the idea for the song from the movie "Leaving Las Vegas" when Nicholas Cage is staying at a place called "The Whole Year Inn" but when he looks at the sign he reads it as saying "The Hole You're in".... and Just for the record I don't even like that movie.

3.Moving Day: moving day is the day the final decision has been made to give up on someone, delete them from your life and move on.

4.Springtime in Paris: I wrote the music for this song 7 years before i could finally come up with lyrics to it. It's the title track because it's about the struggle to maintain an illusion to escape the ugly reality. Trying to live every aspect of my life as if i was somewhere far away. Anything to pretend i was anywhere but phoenix, a backward city which i could never truly identify with, and whose inhabitants, would never "get" me.

5.The Magic Flute: a cautious song of contemplation with references to Cinderella and "The Cincinnati Kid".

6.Happy Valentine's Day: originally written and then recorded on my answering machine on valentine's day 1997.

8.Perfect Beth: you start out with a wonderful image of someone and stubbornly struggle to pretend and maintain they're really great even as the evidence to the contrary starts to become OVERWHELMING. As a side note, this song used to be called "Just Say Hi" when i originally wrote it in 1996 and the chorus went like this "just say hi...just say hi. I would say it myself but my hands are tied... you can never be too sure with girls 'cause they lie".

9. Heart and Soul: a true song for the pure of heart.

10. Outer Space 66 (Outro Space): A transistor radio remix of the first song, thrown on there just because i liked it.
