"SundayRunners' degree of alt-rock notoriety in the months to come is a largely deserving acclaim. (The band) draws equally from rising-and-falling Brit-rock, pop melodies and the advance-and-retreat strategy of golden-age alternative" - Billboard Magazine

"The absolutely gorgeous melodies that are mixed with the left-of-center musical touches give the band's songs a fantastic emotional tension that keeps pulling me in. And the material is uniformly strong, with one highlight ("Elected, "Memories Left At Sea," "1993") after another ("Evolver," "Everlasting Sun," "Lip Biter"). I really believe the album is a stunner: catchy and moody, with arrangements that are so well thought-out and finely sculpted." - Mitch Schneider / MSO

"... explosive and distinctive with sticky guitar sounds --- ear-possessing charms abound. ...hook heavy, sweet `n catchy full flavored guitar-driven power pop fare with flare. ...buoyant, chugging guitars and hooks to land you on land as you float in the heavenly seas of pop bliss. SundayRunners make challenging and sophisticated music that is as entertaining as it is creative. Not only a promising but accomplished debut---well done, lads. Extremely Highly Recommended!" - Not Lame Recording

"5 Stars! SundayRunners' debut is filled with some of the most irresistible pop in music today. With songs charged with a wide range of emotions - from the waves of hope that swell from underneath "Memories Left at Sea" to the haunting sense of loss that hovers over "1993" to the endearing, almost child-like honesty that successfully campaigns throughout the album's first single "Elected," this could quite honestly be the album of the year. They've got my vote." - ConcertLivewire.com

"When someone asks me the impossible-to-answer question of, 'What sort of music do you like?'....I can illuminate them to what I like both past and present by simply playing them this record, and it will say it all." - Tom Pogo, music director / worldspace radio

"One hell of a solid debut disc and a nice fit on our playlist. 'Memories Left At Sea' has been one of my favorite songs in recent weeks, both on the station and on my iPod."
Matt Shiv, music director / woxy.com

"The debut from SundayRunners is smooth, melodic, sometimes haunting alterna-pop. Songs like "Half My Height" and "Evolver" feel like a melding of bands like The Cure and Radiohead while "Memories Left At Sea" reminds us of Human Radio or Michael Penn fronted by U2-like vocals. This is a very entertaining and engaging new release." - whitsbrain.com

"This band definitely follows in the tradition of bands like Radiohead and Doves where a moderate eclecticism of electronic sounds backs up the more traditional rock instrumentation. There is more than a fair share of memorable moments on this album, including some catchy melodies and strong vocal harmonies." - KSCR Radio

The SundayRunners are an exceptional band. Their musical depth is something that can only be described as that feeling you get sitting at home feeling completely comfortable. A breath of fresh air to the exhausted ears of an earnest music director. - Andrew Eads, music director / wlca

"Among the stacks of weak and disappointing releases that pile on my desk each week, the debut album from Sunday Runners is a beacon of hope. With Randy Diderrich's Tom Yorke-like vocals, and an album full of catchy hooks, and smart and relevant lyrics, it is easily one of my top ten best of 2004. I found myself enjoying just about every song more than the one that preceded it. I found especially high points in the songs "1993," "evolver" and "flying saucers" with its escalating tempo. Whoever stumbles across this little gem, is in for a listening treat not often found today. I can see this album staying fresh for years to come, and makes me anticipate SundayRunners' follow up even more. Happy Listening! - Michael Hartge, music director / woub

SundayRunners' leader Randy Diderrich has just put the finishing touches on the Chicago-based band's self-titled debut album for the Chicago indie label Machine Records. The music that unfolds from this collection effortlessly mixes a timeless brand of pop with updated alternative sensibilities.

Originally hailing from the same small Wisconsin town that spawned guitar legend Les Paul, Diderrich's own musical background began at a young age when his parents encouraged him to play classical piano. But his fate was to be sealed later in his teens when he first picked up his father's guitar. Weaned on bands such as Buddy Holly, The Beatles and The Who from his parents, Diderrich later fell in love with the sounds of British hard rock and in 1988 formed his first band Mas Optica (a progressive hard rock band that was signed to the Minneapolis indie label Red Decibel.)

After six years fronting Mas Optica, Diderrich - who, at that time, was getting more into the alternative sounds of The Pixies, Nirvana and Soundgarden - then joined the Milwaukee-based band Front of Truck as second guitarist. Front of Truck's songs soon appeared on a number of well known television shows, such as VH1's Have and Have Nots of Rock & Roll, VH1's Record Breakers and the hit show Party of Five.

(It seems as though television's infatuation with Randy's music is far from over too. Fox Network's popular show The OC will be broadcasting SundayRunners' song "Memories Left at Sea" February 17, 2005, with future airings of their music on MTV's Real World and Road Rules: X-TREME.)

Eventually deciding to go his own way, Diderrich then joined musician Kevin Tihista's (Triple Fast Action / Veruca Salt) band for an extensive U.S. and European tour, before joining Tobin Sprout (Guided By Voices) for a 2004 Midwest and East Coast tour (not to mention opening for Guided By Voices' second-to-last concert ever at the venerable Chicago nightclub Metro on December 30, 2004).

In the fall of 2003 Randy signed with Machine Records as a solo artist under the guise of SundayRunners. Although SundayRunners is Diderrich's own brainchild, he's quick to point out that it's a collective effort. "My friends really helped with this record," he readily admits. "I had all these songs together and there's a few people who helped that I've gotten pretty close with over the past couple of years, as well as some that I've known for up to twenty years. I'm really lucky to have the opportunity to work with such great people who also happen to be great musicians."

Engineered by Diderrich and fellow Machine recording artist Todd Bowie, the results of SundayRunners' debut mix trace elements of the British Invasion sounds that influenced Diderrich in his youth, along with both melodic pop and the best of what alt-rock had to offer at a time when it really mattered. With a wealth of beautifully composed and arranged rock songs, such as "Elected," "Flying Saucers" and "1993," Diderrich proves - with aching vocals over haunting pop melodies, warm harmonies and intelligent lyrics often delivered with a dry sense of humor - that SundayRunners are capable of creating that rare thing in rock music - an album that is both immediately classic and forever timeless.

SundayRunners' self-titled debut will be released March 22, 2005 on Machine Records. The band is rehearsing for an extensive 2005 / 2006 tour and is currently available for bookings.
