Malvern are an indie pop piece of three and usually four. Toronto and Boston. Burger and Bun. Dole and Queue. &tc. &tc. We hasten to say they are people, too, and here is their pitch:

"Well, to start with, we've recorded a record, and, if we're being honest, we'd like you to buy it. I mean, come on, this site is openly devoted to commerce, albeit of a very independent nature. It's an entirely baseless decision you're about to make, so let us help you; Doesn't the cover look good? That's me running!"

Maybe not the best track to take, but it was early when we spoke with them. You understand.
In any case, the record is called The Grand Bender, and what can we really say about it? Recorded over a week in southwestern Ontario, Malvern has arranged a classic debut. The tunes are solid, the harmonies and melodies... vintage rhythms, etc.

"Most of all, the independent spirit of Malvern's music is what sets them apart from the majority of what is out there today. Malvern takes a lot of chances with this album, but those chances were worth the risk. This is one of the best local albums I've heard this year." -the Noise, Boston

"...whether loud or quiet - the band makes great use of melodies, which pulls the whole record together quite well... This is definitely an excellent debut album, and a good band to watch out for!" -indiepages.com

It's ten bucks. Ten bucks well spent.
