Alexandra's Tears was formed in 1989 in San Diego, CA.
From 1989 to 1995 Alexandra's Tears was releasing some of the most memorable independent releases of the day.
(Before the CDR explosion and before everyone had internet access) The five albums that were released during this time were all released on cassette.

Between 1992-1995 Alexandra's Tears appeared on two music compilations. One of them being the very rare and much sought "Cultivation '92".

After doing some live shows the demand was great to release a new album on CD. (not Cassette) The result was "Tidelands",released in 1994 on the now long gone Dadiop Records.

"Tidelands" is a very personal CD compiling 20 tracks and totaling close to 71 minutes. There was so much material written and recorded during the "Tidelands" sessions that a double "overflow" CD was created and called "Driftwood".

Tidelands has an extreme sadness to it. The album deals with thoughts of the past and a longing for more than what life is providing. The music at times has a nice synth pop feel to it. At other times like a brush slowly painting a canvas. The vocal presentaion is very personal and filled with a longing meloncholy.

Tidelands was recorded on 4 tracks and mixed in 1994. No computers or sequencers were used during the recording sessions. Each track was carefully laid down individually and mixed to its proper place.

By 1995 Alexandra's Tears stopped playing live and never finished a follow-up CD. Although the "Tidelands" follow-up was nearly finished it was never released.

Enjoy "Tidelands". A real piece of early 90s independent music history.
