Joining the ranks of acts such as Weezer, The Strokes, Jimmy Eat World, and The Hives, Penfield contributes its own unique and refreshing sound. Described as "Neo-Fifties Fuzz Pop," Penfield is an act that will compete with the global list of hot, must-have bands. It is due time that Canada contributes again to the world music scene with witty, heart-wrenching, anthem-esque songs that grace the Penfield sound catalog. Based out of London, Ontario, Penfield consists of Robert Pihokker, Jim Yeaman, and Kevin Duncan. The trio produces a sound described as "a modern day hybrid of The Cars and The Beach Boys." They have shared the stage with bands such as The Refreshments, Starkicker, Made, The Killjoys, and Garrison Star. By the turn of the millennium, Penfield had recorded its first E.P., Pop Junkie Superstar (2000). The four song E.P. contained tracks that were heard on campus radio stations. The early months of 2003 were spent in the studio preparing a professional demo funded in part by FACTOR. Beyond the Age of Cool (2003) is the follow-up, containing 10 fresh, catchy songs that will top the charts. The band is currently looking for support to help produce and market the album in order to compete on the global stage, where it has the potential to be the 'next big thing'.
