Outerworldly sonics fade up... SMASH! Backward strings and eBow bounce outwardly... inwardly... the CD begins.

Crafted by 3 musicians and a host of friends in their basement studios, Mercy James Gang "Sunsetting" is 11 songs of odd pop songwriting, diverse stratum of sound and lively performances.

Born in the multi-faceted Boston music scene from the unrealistic expectations of songwriter/guitarist/vocalist Jim Gerdeman, the group formed as a recording project to chronicle the last gasp of a desperate songwriter.

Yet drummer/recording engineer Chris Harris and bassist/vocalist Kevin Quinn did more for the songs than simply document them. Together with Gerdeman, they created an original sound worthy of exploration.

And in the process... the end became the beginning.

The title "Sunsetting" is from the term used to describe ending something gradually. That is the theme of the album.

From the opening track "Sunset" to the aural montage of "Bland Finale" the album explores bittersweet endings.

Now the band performs and records with new backing vocalist/keyboardist Nicole Berard with hopes to further the sound created on this disc.
