Martin Rivas, former guitarist/singer with Serious Pilgrim, current guitarist/multiinstrumentalist with Jesse Gage and Otis, returns with his first solo album since 2002's Bottleneck. A darker sonic palette fills Pride of the Valley, with Martin making extensive use of loops and ambient noise, but the glue of the album remains his distinctive vocals and multi-layered acoustic and electric guitar work. Two of the tracks have already been tabbed to be featured in a pair of independent films. "Hope" will appear at the close of "Leaving New Hope," currently in the editing stages for Speedy Busboy Productions, and "Designed to Break" will feature prominently in "Showcase," which will premiere this fall for Thank You Stanley Productions. Martin continues to write and perform as part of Jesse Gage and Otis, whose debut album is being produced by Grammy award-winning John Seymour (Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Bouncing Souls). Martin plans to continue making steady-but-sporadic acoustic appearances throughout the Northeast United States.
