Ottestad is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Boots Ottestad. After spending the last 3 years working on "everyone else's" records, he got sick and tired of the limitations of the major recording label machine and decided to make a record purely for his own satisfaction (what a concept).

With his blend of swirly English pop rock and traditional American singer/songwriting, he is ready to take on the artistic mayhem one more time.

One more time, because he has been through the mill a million times before: During the 80s, Ottestad was in 2Brave, a boyband with massive ambitions, but little success. After quitting the rat race, he went back to university in Newcastle where he reclaimed the tatters of his youth, played lots of football, drank too much beer and miraculously managed to graduate with a Masters degree in Human Resource Management, go figure.

In the mid 90s Ottestad formed the Getaway People with his best friends from Stavanger, Norway. They were signed to Columbia Records in NY and released two albums worldwide in 1998 (the Getaway People) and 2000 (Turnpike Diaries). After two full years on the road in the US and Europe, though alive to tell the tale, the band was no more.

With no money and no hope of a new record deal, Boots started writing for other artists and eventually got his foot in the door. He has worked with Robbie Williams, with whom he co-wrote "Come Undone", the second single of Escapology. Ottestad has also had songs on Tim McGraw, Thomas Dybdahl and Ashley Hamilton's records. His music has been featured in Hollywood movies such as "Bring it on" and "Crazy beautiful". His songs have also been used in various American sitcoms, such as "Felicity" and "Dawsons Creek".

Ottestad currently lives in Brooklyn, NY and spends most of his time buried in some studio composing and recording music with his friends. When he's not working, he still pretends he's Kevin Keegan whilst chasing a football around Prospect Park in Brooklyn.
