Shit kicking drug guzzling TVs out of windows Rock 'n' Roll ain't dead. It's just plastered on some eyeliner and slipped into a slinky little PVC number... D.U.S.T. have exploded out of Cardiff (a wise career move some may say...) in 2000 and picked up an enviable reputation and following at a frightening pace. Their secret lies in their almost effortless blend of electronic beats and orchestral synth swathes, fronted by genuine Geetar hero Xtian, block rocking low frequencies from Bass Goddess Naamah and the powerful voice and live performance of frontman Mikey, a Lizard King in the making if ever there was one. The obvious reference point here is Placebo, which is not to say that D.U.S.T. have a similar sound per se, but they certainly plunder similar sources of 80's electro and alternative rock, updating them with sprinkles of studio tricknology (the debut album shows an emergent trend within their material to toy with dub and trip hop backing structures) and rocking out like a bastard live. Always present is an ear for that perfect moment of emotional guitar pop. The band will be playing at The Camden Underworld on 31/03/01 before embarking on a full UK tour to support the release of their debut album "From The Sublime to The Obscene" PRESS QUOTES: "D.U.S.T. have enough originality and vision to really make a difference in the years to come. They have a peculiar but enthralling take on industrial goth, which is probably their greatest strength. Occasionally tip-toeing into the realms of metal with Manson-esque riffs and beats, then leaping back into moody, emotionally-charged synth rock" -8/10, Metal Hammer "A marriage of upbeat dance beats, classic melodies and then spine crushing agression. It's almost a live, electronic carnival type mood" -Meltdown Magazine "like a much angrier and less perky version of Manuskript" -The Rattler DISCOGRAPHY: FROM THE SUBLIME TO THE OBSCENE (WASPFAC005) - Released April 2001 Check out the artist's website: http://www.wasp-factory.com Track List: 1.
