Philip Pares was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1964. He learned to play several instruments in grade school including flute, clarinet, trumpet, piano and baritone horn. At Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin and at Queens College in New York City, Philip studied the french horn, music theory and composition He earned a Master's degree in Performance from Queens College and a Master's in Composition from New York University. Philip has performed his compositions throughout the United States, Germany and Mexico. "Gethsemene" is his first CD. Author Edmund White wrote of the CD, "I was wowed...It's so exotic and so varied, everything from temple bells to Japanese flutes." Music reviewer, David Hurst, from Show Business Weekly said the music is "beautiful and certainly relaxing." The music on "Gethsemene" consits primarily of dance scores. They are performed on a variety of acoustic instruments including flute, clarinet, trumpet, horn, piano, guitar, bottles, percussion and synthesizers.
