The last decade has kept me very busy scoring films (Animal Farm, Jane Eyre, Defence of the Realm, Arabian Nights and most recently of course the epic "Suriyothai") locked away in a darkened room with my piano and piles of blank music paper waiting to be filled in! Well ...now I've decided to escape for a while. Through an excellent series of co-incidences I managed to enter the world of Khun Hucky Eichelmann, the most eminent classical guitarist in South East Asia. We struck up a great rapport at once and teamed up to give concerts as Hucky and Harvey. Some witty soul kindly called us "the extraordinary two man orchestra"! Before the time when composition became such a big part of my life I used to play solo flute concerts in small churches and chateaux in the southern part of France. Ever since those days I've been totally hooked on the idea of taking music to out of the way places and to people who might have never had a concert in their town or village. Well now, with one guitar case and a suitcase full of flutes, panpipes, whistles, things banged, plucked and bowed ... plus a couple of flight tickets, with Khun Hucky's help I can achieve that ambition. Richard HARVEY RICHARD HARVEY has scored countless television dramas from Jane Eyre and Game, set and match to Alan Bleasdale's G.B.H. and more than twentyfive feature films. He has also written a haunting viola concerto and a massive "eco-musical", Plague and the Moonflower, blending conventional orchestral forces with Andean musicians and electric instruments. He has won a British Academy Award (BAFTA) for TV music written in collaboration with rock star Elvis Costello and his guitar composition, Concerto Antico, has recently been premiered in concert and recorded on CD by John Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra. Richard's musical career led him via recorder lessons at the age of four to first clarinet with the British Youth Symphony Orchestra and on to the Royal College of Music. Before he was 20, he had formed the internationally successful folk group, Gryphon, with which he toured three continents, played 30 different instruments and recorded five albums. Now in his mid 40s, Richard is a prolific composer, an occasional conductor and a performer on a vast collection of instruments - blown, plucked, keyed, bowed, beaten and programmed! He has made several classical albums, including the Classical Record of the Year Italian Recorder Concertos, which show breathtaking fluency and exhilarating woodwind technique.His most recent work for the big screen was the celebrated landmark in Thai movie history "Suriyothai" over two hours of music including the hit song "Now and Forever". HUCKY eichelmann The name Hucky Eichelmann requires little introduction for Asian audiences, his unique and dazzling guitar style has long been delighting his loyal and ever-increasing audience in the region. The international press has dubbed him as "Musical Ambassador between East and West" and a Bangkok Magazine labeled him the "Musical Ambassador for His Majesty the King of Thailand". An official tribute from the palace described him in glowing terms as an "indefatiguable champion of H.M. the Kings music" after he recorded and published CANDLELIGHT BLUES. He had the great honor to be invited to stage several Royal Command Performances for His Majesty King Bhumipol Adulyadej and for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand. Though holding a master degree in classical music, Hucky started very early to develope his own repertoire of great diversity bridging the Cultures of East and West as well as the Classical with the Folkloristic and the Serious with the Popular. A cross-cultural highlight was his work with Pandit Ravi Shankar who, in collaboration with Hucky, re-composed his popular Sitar Concerto No.1 for guitar & orchestra. Other great artists Hucky had the honour to collaborate with include Richard Harvey, George Winston, Nina Corti and Carlos Bonell. He also played alongside such guitar greats as John Williams, Paco Peña, David Russell, Jorge Morel, the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet und Juan Martin. He thrilled audiences during the world's most prestigious guitar festivals in Great Britain, Singapore and Australia. He was privileged to be invited to perform at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City - a rare honour for an instrumentalist.
