The Feldenkrais Method is a wonderful way to learn to move and feel better. You do the movements according to your ability. These lessons are especially good for anyone who deals with pain or is trying to safely recover their movement after an injury or surgery. The movement lessons teach you how to sense your body and gently move your whole spine. Often we have pain in the parts of our body that we use the most. For example, any stiffness of the ribs, hips, shoulders or upper back will put extra demand on the lower back or neck. In order to relieve the strain on the overused and painful parts, you need to develop more awareness and flexibility of the entire spine and ribcage..You can learn to move without pain by improving your ability to sense what you are doing as you move. In these lessons you will learn to sense and improve the basic building block of all your movements, that is, the movement of your spine as the connection between the head and pelvis. The Feldenkrais Method is the preferred movement method in many pain programs including Kaiser Permanente. Deborah tested and developed these lessons at the Delayed Recovery Center at Kaiser Permanente in SF. Deborah's teaching style is easy to understand, and stresses the value of being gentle, both in how you move and how you feel and think about yourself. Her Awareness through Movement lessons have helped hundreds of people feel better and move better and can help you, too.
