Andrew Smith is an accomplished instrumentalist and singer/songwriter who has been busy playing folk clubs, festivals and house concerts - both as a solo performer and with the popular folk/roots trio Smith Funk & Strauss. In 2004 he opened for some of his musical heroes such as Bruce Cockburn, Ruthie Foster, Gordie Sampson, Martyn Joseph, Pierce Pettis and David Wilcox. As a solo performer Andrew plays original instrumental pieces as well as songs about his travels and loves (along with the occasional political rant). His first instrumental album, in the style of Don Ross and Michael Hedges, was released April '05. In 2004, Andrew was nominated for instrumentalist of the year at the Scorpion Entertainment Awards and toured France and Switzerland as an instrumentalist performer.
