Devil Rock Disco

So what's the name mean? Does it have some cosmic or far eastern connotation?? Nah, not really. It's taken from the nickname for Terry (sho as in sho 'nuf)) Murray and Cory (Core, misspelling courtesy of a local rock writer) White. If any meaning or significance need be attached, it's probably safe to say the name was derived from the creative and collaborative efforts of these two guys.

Up to now, White was best known as the front man for defunct Vancouver band DDT. Lessons hard learned but education worth the effort is the description Cory ascribes to his four years and two records with those guys. Following his departure from that band, he took some time off, wrote a lot of new songs and quickly found that he really missed recording and touring. Armed with some new material and a renewed determination, he quickly hooked up with Terry who had been working on tracks for other bands and doing production at Profile and some of the other Vancouver studios. Things clicked creatively, the songs came together amazingly well, and they began bringing in musicians to round out the project.

The more they worked, the better it got and over the span of about 5 months, they recorded Devil Rock Disco, a 10 song cd that critics are calling "alternative to alternative rock, with a touch of rap and enough energy to stave off California's dilemma". The reaction to the band and the cd has been nothing short of incredible! The track Bonecracker lit up phones at CFOX where it's been top 10 for 7 weeks, 2 of those at #1, and was just added at Vancouver's XFM following heavy phone requests. CFOX online has gotten strong requests from Canadian and US listeners for the track as well. Bonecracker also grabbed the attention of Microsoft and the song is being used in the XBOX series. And if that's not enough, another track High School Punk has been picked up for the Jet Boy film soundtrack due out later this year. Well, that's not enough. Bonecracker, High School Punk and Legendary Camaro just got picked up for upcoming episodes of The Outer Limits.

Shocore just returned from a cross Canada tour with The Headstones and just performed at the Microsoft XBOX Launch Event in Toronto late last year, a result of "Bonecracker" being included on the compilation album with some of the biggest international rock artists. The new year brought a new single and video for the track "Rudy" and further touring for the band. They are now embarking on a huge cross -Canada Tour, including dates with SnowJam and Export "A" concert series.
