BLACK STEEL were formed in early 2000 in Perth, Western Australia. From the start the band decided to play a traditional Power Heavy Metal with an emphasis on high calibre musicianship, strong melodies, double kick drumming, soaring vocals, big choruses and dual guitar soloing.

BLACK STEEL's first recorded effort was the "Battle Call" EP, featuring four tracks. The first pressing sold out in just a few short weeks and positive reviews followed in many Metal magazines and websites, including biggies like "Heavy Oder Was" & Australian "Kerrang!". Some big breaks were offered to the band in 2001 with the band opening for DEEP PURPLE & also JUDAS PRIEST on their respective Australian tours.

The full-length debut BLACK STEEL album "Destructor" was released in late 2001. The album showcases a continuation of the melodic Metal style developed on their EP, featuring a range of big chorus anthemic Metal songs, mid paced rockers and fast double-kick screaming Heavy Metal in the classic tradition of prime era Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Accept with modern cutting edge metal production.

The release of the "Destructor" album ignited a great deal of interest in the band from around the world with massive positive reviews in many major Metal magazines and websites; a track from the album have been selected for inclusion in Germany's "Heavy Oder Was" Magazine "Metal Crusade Vol 4" CD.
In eraly 2002 "Destructor" have been licensed by Adrenaline/Steelheart Records for the European market. A new improved artwork + cover have been created and a bonus video-track have been added to the track-list.
