A Lower Deep was established in 2001 as the result of more than a decade of perseverance and frustration by its four individual musicians. Being in Birmingham, Alabama to start was not conducive to playing true metal and there were more problems. Each member had been in other bands only to meet with the difficulties of trying to maintain a high level of artistry with less than dedicated musicians. Having a good deal of regional success in bands like Outrage, War Within, Mindfill and System of Nine, only to see them come to untimely demise was enough to make these four question their devotion to the music. But luckily fate had yet to play its final hand. Singer Billy Mullican, Guitarist Troy Reid, Bassist Tim Umstead, and Drummer Brad Aaron came together to form A Lower Deep. They found in each other the perfect counter-parts to explore their personal visions. The band believes in order to build something strong and lasting it must be built on a foundation that is solid. That foundation for A Lower Deep is the metal greats. Bands like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Queensryche and the list goes on. A Lower Deep is proud to wear these influences close to the heart of their music and blend them with each individual member's on creativity, passion and style. They join with the other great true metal bands of today to carry on the banner into the future and provide a haven and gift to the metal nation. The new CD is already attracting to the band a loyal and devoted fan base. Fans have written from all over the world to express their appreciation and love of the band and its material.
