Cree 8, a thunderous rock/metal hybrid from Franklin, MA, is blazing a trail into the future by embracing the past... The fiery quartet looks to rock and metal founding fathers like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Kiss for a solid foundation while modern pioneers such as Metallica, Tool, Godsmack, Staind, & Stone Temple Pilots provide a towering steel structure to build on. Cree 8 was formed in June of 2001 when vocalist Johnny Venuto teamed up with guitarist Joe Bacon, bassist Bill Donovan, and drummer Rob Rappa. They immediately recorded a 3 song demo and began to play the local club scene. Cree 8 was well received at shows and handed out over 500 copies of the recording to eager fans appreciative of their efforts. Since then, Cree 8 has been creating a buzz and following around New England; With radio airplay on Bay State Rock on WAAF, Boston Emissions on WBCN, and many other local stations. Cree 8 has been playing with such bands as: Controlled Aggression, No December, Nullset, Bonescrew, Superkollider, Eastcide, and many others. Also, playing shows for WBCN, WFNX, and clubs like the Lucky Dog Music Hall, The Linwood, and Jarrod's Place. Cree 8 continues to deliver in your face madness with supercharged energy. In May of 2002, Cree 8 chose New Alliance Audio in Boston, MA to record 5 songs that represents the bands true identity. They were matched with engineer Ethan Dussault (Garrison) and in just 2 days recorded the entire EP. Mastering engineer Nick Zampiello (Cracktorch, Liquor Tricks) polished the recording and "Turning Point" was complete. "Turning Point" is a true collaborative effort that takes listeners down a dark path of human emotion. Lyrically, the EP delves into despair, loneliness, betrayal and self-destruction while the music makes the listener feel as if they had lived these experiences first hand.
