Right now we are all amidst the worst generation ever. A generation full of downloaded ring tones, soft-core porn music videos that have no musical substance, and staged reality television programs. In the overall scheme of things our rejection of certain forms of entertainment is extremely insignificant compared to the war and poverty that plague our world, but we are not politicians, we are musicinas. As musicians we feel that our band offers an alternative to the mainstream crap that is being shoved down all of our throats everyday. We say this not because our goal is to gain fame without ever being on the radio or television (although that is really fuckin cool) but because we think the mainstream deserves better. The 70s had Zeppelin, the 80s had GNR, the 90s had Nirvana, but what do we have? The music out there today is just as good, if not better than ever, the only problem is that you have to search so hard to find it. Unfortunately technology seems to dictate what people like these days and in my opinion has destroyed a lot of the creative energy associated with music. People don't write riffs anymore, they sample them or as we like to say steal them without learning how to play them. If you are record company who would you rather hire for a session, a bunch of musicians who all need to get paid and who might make mistakes (because they are human) or use sampler which would take less time and cost you much less money? Business wise technology is great, the music sucks but as long as there is an audience this problem will continue. We are definitely not naive or ignorant enough to think that our band will bring good hard rock back to the mainstream, but we do know that we connect with a certain group music fans that are pissed off with the same shit we are. Hell, the trends from this generation might be a blessing in disguise. It has made the competition so week that maybe a band called Ape can break through. Ape is a Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Toronto-based band. Drawing influences from a variety of classic and contemporary groups, Ape has already begun to form its own sound that is recognizable in the bands all-original repertoire. Founded by guitarist/vocalist Everett Mason and bassist Galen Weir, Ape has had a lot of different talents fill the drums and lead guitar positions during the years of the bands existence. Ape has had the pleasure of performing in such Toronto venues as: Club 279, The Horseshoe, The Reverb, The Smiling Buddha, The Kathedral, Lees Palace and many more. Now with an always increasing fan-base, and a newly recorded Album the band looks to embark on what should be a very successful year. Check out the artist's website: http://apeband.com Track List: 1.
