All Genres > Metal > Doom/Stoner Metal > GRIEVOUS: One Breath From Winter

Bio:
Clamorous and insistent, Grievous proceeds at low speeds. But what the band lacks in promptness, they make up with a high decibel of power via a mountain of hi-watt Sunn, Matamp and Ampeg amplification, thunderous percussion, twisted samples, effective stage-lighting and past musical experience.

Actively hostile, the band performs one hell of an aggressive sales campaign, leaving fans inclined toward intensive auditory treatment. The band’s efforts are triumphs of minimalism, reducing rock to its most elemental appeal. Grievous forces the listener through dark images of sorrow, loneliness and the pain of suffering... but without narcotic experience of other group’s in the stoner rock and doom genres. The band’s live energy, intense power, straight forward changes and sheer volume provide the audience with more than enough ammunition... proving that low notes (turned up) cause a widespread expression of unrest and emotion: breaking down thought, pounding away at the soul and grinding assumptions into dust.

In November of 2004, Grievous released their first cd/ep (on Worm Fodder Recordings) to the public. “One Breath from Winter” was highly anticipated among fans of heavy music and label-owners alike. Steve Carter (who has worked with Cradle of Filth, Himsa, Grieving the Days to come, Hell Promise and others) was hired to organize and document the three-song cd, and Paul Speer (Himsa) to mix and master this recording. Both men helped Grievous to be heard loud and raw, as the band should be presented. The group is currently in discussion with a few labels for a possible release of the recently recorded 5-song cd entitle "Erebus".

Emphatic, impressive, and urgent, Grievous trudges on, attracting attention; gaudy as a turbulent, blustering storm... clawing in from the cold North.

Grievous contains ex-members of Himsa, Myiasis, Left with Nothing, Lahar, Harkonen and Genuine.
