NeSSuS formed during the summer of 1998 and dedicated themselves to integrating a wide variety of musical influences, while remaining true to their metal roots. Some of their primary influences include Carcass, Samael, Rotting Christ, Old Man's Child, Opeth, Children of Bodom, and Arch Enemy. With the addition of a second guitarist during the winter of 2000, NeSSuS expanded their possibilities and focused on a more musical, melodic, and technical style of song writing. Thus further expanding their fan base and leading to the release of their debut CD entitled 'Solstice of Suffering.' The CD's popularity within the Michigan metal scene allowed them opportunities to share the stage with bands such as Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Cannibal Corpse, Amorphis, Nile, and Cradle of Filth among many others.
