On the ashes of the progressive and melodic Swedish band Mayadome, Loch Vostok rises. Taking the best progressive elements and adding semi psychotic influences, this new fine act is close to invent a whole new style of heavy metal music. As Mayadome broke up in 2001, Teddy Möller, Sebastian Okupski and Erik Grandin decided that their musical careers were not about to end. They soon began creating new music, with Teddy converging from the drums to the role of vocalist/guitarist. Adding the drum talent of Alvaro Torres (ex. 5steps Ahead, Imperial Domain) and the shredding guitar works of Niklas Kupper (ex. Ramrod, elpresidente, 5steps Ahead), the band was a reality. Unfortunately, Erik soon decided to leave the band, as he was moving to the USA. A new bass player was found immediately in Tomas "Tym" Jonsson. Loch Vostok soon finished their first demo, containing 9 songs, which, according to the bands' management, should easily help the band secure a label deal. However, Loch Vostok decided to enter the DugOut studio with producer Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah,SYL, Ocean Machine, Dragonlord etc.) to complete a fulllength album entitled "Dark Logic".
The music is perhaps easiest to compare with the avantgardism of Cynic, the progressiveness of Dream Theater, the black metalish assault of Emperor and the sheer power of Agent Steel and the melodic death metal of Soilwork. The lake Vostok is a real lake, deep under the ice cap of Antarctica. It's an eternal lake with pure and fresh water, and it shows in the bands' music that they have taken their name from this freezing and untouched place. Loch Vostok will create chills down your spine when the day comes for you to be engulfed by their fantastic music...

"Swedish progressive metal band with lots of weird rhythmic patterns, beautiful melodies and strange vocal harmonies. Loch Vostok is the missing link between Emperor, Dream Theater, Cynic and Soilwork. Progressive avant-garde Metal."
