The pioneers of West Virginia planted their seeds in secrecy. When Blood Reigned the land opened and the people drank deep. Surrounded by smoke and shadows they brought Metal into the heart of the mountains, a place where the aggression could be distilled, concentrated through ancient arts. A few became powerful enough to create a hybrid doom, combining the influence of the past with the contempt for the modern metal mainstream to produce a new kind of death.
In 1992 this Guerilla Grown Mountain Metal began to seep from the soil and into the hands of a small group of kids that had lived under the late night light of the Headbanger's Ball. They formed CORROSIVE, releasing their first warning to the world two years later with the E.P. "Smoldered Remains," it was a signal that something was rising from the ashes of heavy metal. A five-year hiatus left the band at the end of the 20th century with a solid, practiced line-up and a new direction. As society was on the virge of collapsing under the threats of Y2K, CORROSIVE released their second E.P. "Rotting Within." This five-track journey into deceased consciousness harnessed an unheard combination of metal's core elements: the speed that propelled bands like Slayer, the psycological complexity that earned Metallica's early fame, the vocal depravity of the death movement, and something all together new...straight from the soul of our tortured history. The album created it's own local underground, supplied three years of touring, and landed the band a spot at the 2000 Milwaukee Metalfest, after which they have developed an evergrowing fan base and an unmistakable presence on stage.
The abrubt decision at the end of 2001 of bassist Mike Blackburn to pursue othe interests left the founding members to find a replacement. When long time fan Justin Wood joined the band, a hideous potential began to unfold. The band adjusted the line-up, with Tim taking bass and vocals, Matt playing rhythm, Justin on lead, and Dave on drums; this shift allowed them to focus individually, bringing their talents together with an edge that would sharpen Metal Blade. After months of intense rehearsal, they went into the studio. The result is the band's 3rd E.P. "Slaughtered in Vain" which will hit the stores 4-20-2003.The album consists of all new material with a strategic technicality that will "shock and awe" the public.
CORROSIVE's goal is to make it to the ears of metal fans across the globe, allowing the upcoming onslaught to leave even the most timid fans growling the broken syllables of CORR-O-SIVE.
