With IST's first recording, For the Sake of the Process, it becomes immediately apparent that you are listening to a "heavy" band that incorporates many styles, but is not limited to one in particular. Track to track, influences can be heard from black metal, death metal, hardcore, noise, punk and more, all while maintaining its own original raw as fuck sound throughout. For those who don't know, "raw as fuck" is a technical term used by the music industry, but only when something is raw, preferably as fuck. The opening track explodes with a blast beat that will literally tear your fucking head off and stomp on it with zero capacity for mercy, just like the terminator when he wasted 30 cops in that police station. But I digress. For the Sake of the Process was recorded and produced entirely by founding member Dean, who listens to tons of music from all genres and it shows in his approach. Guitar riffs come at you from all angles, drums change up to keep things interesting, but keep emphasis on maintaining a raw, hard-driving groove from blast beats to breakdowns. In sum, IST's first recording is anything but straight forward: an all encompassing brutal yet philosophical soundscape, set on creating rather than following. -Dr. Dantropolis Track List: 1.
