Started as a solo project in 2000..and in part, born out of the frustration of trying to form a functional metal band in launceston; Zero Degrees Freedom is a dark combination of melody and crushing heaviness. mixing many styles of metal playing with dark, introspective lyrics, which have found songs from the first release, 'safety in numbness' being added to over 30 internet based metal radio stations. Following up this release, was the release of the ep 'A Return To Darkness' in 2003. both cds having been written performed and recorded by the bands sole member (up until recently), Simon Frech. With the first two cds, having been successfully released entirely as a solo project, the next logical step in zero degrees freedom's evolution was the formation of a live band. Currently, the focus is on learning and preforming the existing material from the first two cds. however, collaborative songwriting efforts are already underway.
