Deadlift, a wacky, heartfelt, sometimes rude, in-your-face, always straight-up metal-driven modern rock band for the 21st century, is delivering a sound you can dance to. We encourage you to move to a new kind of groove... So come on, get up, JUMP!! Deadlift started in November, 2000, as an experimental studio project by James, Ashley, and other musicians. A year later, they had recorded their first CD, Product of the Environment. They played many shows across the Southeastern US. Shortly thereafter, James and Ashley relocated to Phoenix, Arizona where they dug up Jeff and hatched Jason. They are currently working on their second CD, Exacta, which they plan to complete by Halloween, 2002. DEADLIFT IS: James "R.I.P" Christie - Vocals Jeff "Deadman" Stacy - Guitar Ashley Johnson - Bass/Keyboards, Vocals Jason Berney - Drums R.I.P, 107, hails from Montgomery, Alabama. He is influenced by some stuff and currently does stuff. Naw... Just kidding. His influences include Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Pantera, XenovoX, Crimson Glory, Def Tones, Ozzy Osbourne, Ice-T, Ice Cube, 2 Live Crew, Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine, Sam Kinison, Rick James, and Britney Spears!! And of course his boys in Trust Company. And yet, he still refuses to just die. Jeff, 27, is native to Arizona. He is... maladjusted. He is influenced by some stuff and currently works as a dead body picker upper dude. He is influenced by Eddie Van Halen, Ozzy Osbourne, Randy Rhoades, Tool, Korn, Pantera, Butthole Surfers, Henry Rollins Band, Circle Jerks, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and every stripper he s ever banged or gotten a lap dance from. Ashley, also hails from Montgomery, Alabama. A lifelong musician, he is classically trained in piano and is a self-taught bass player and vocalist. His influences include Nine Inch Nails, System of the Down, Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, and Stravinsky. He has worked as a music teacher painter and realtor and is ready to kick some ass on the bass ! . Jason was dropped out of the sky in an egg about four years ago... we think. Completely self-taught, he is influenced by bands such as Alice in Chains, Dream Theater (HOORJ!), and Queensryche. He is currently a professional computer nerd. EQUIPMENT: James uses Shure mikes exclusively. Jeff plays a guitar he built himself, and then like a really big fucking amp, or something. The rest is top secret. Ashley plays a Fender 5-string jazz bass guitar, Ampeg amplifiers, and some other stuff. Jason uses Mapex drums, Vater sticks, Gibraltar hardware, and Zildjian cymbals.
